TNFOG - Tamilnadu Federation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists

About TNFOG

Tamilnadu being a large state is adorned with 18 Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies throughout its length and breadth.

The need to have a Federation of these Societies had been the vision of all the office bearers of these Societies. The vision materialized into TNFOG under the persistent initiatives of Dr. Anjalakshi Chandrasekar and Dr. S. Sampathkumari.

This conglomeration has multiple missions

1. To create uniform management guidelines in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to suit the needs of the state and in line with FOGSI guidelines.

2. To design and promote Public Health awareness programmes in Anaemia Prevention in all age groups, Adolescent and Menopausal Health, Holistic Antenatal Care, Comprehensive Family Welfare Services, Cancer Screening and Prevention in women, Respectful Maternity Care across the state.

3. To promote research in topics that will bringforth a fresh insight into chronic issues like hypertensive disorders and diabetes mellitus in pregnancy to name a few.

4. To form a healthy interacting and referral platform to reach even the remotest areas of the state.

5. To form a formidable Organisation that should be able to offer suggestions and guidance in Health Policies initiated by the Government

6. To promote academic activities utilizing the Experiences of the Senior members and Enthusiasm of Younger Members.

7. To hold vibrant State level Conferences to showcase the achievements of the Societies in their areas.

Objectives of the society

The objectives of the society are those mentioned in the Memorandum of Association and in Particular the following

a) To act as a common head society for various district societies/ associations of Obstetricians and Gynecologists across Tamil Nadu.

b) To serve as a forum to share knowledge between various societies of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

c) To function as a platform for young medical practitioners to present their research papers, case reports etc.
